PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has launched a project to provide digital arms licences to overcome the use of fake licences.
Chief Minister Pervez Khattak inaugurated the project at the home and tribal affairs department here on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Khattak expressed the hope that the computerised arms licences would help check corruption and use of fake licences.
“Now the people instead of waiting for months will receive arms’ licences in a few days, while sale and purchase of both arms and cartridges will also be simplified and legalised,” he said.
Similarly, he said the timely identification of the wrongdoers would help in preventing crimes and unlawful activities, beside generating revenue for the government. The chief minister appreciated the provincial IT minister Shahram Khan Tarakai and his department for successful completion of this important project.
Mr Khattak said now a police constable through mobile SMS could check the licence of any person anywhere.
