LAHORE: A Sahiwal breed cow has created a record by yielding 39.04 litre milk in 24 hours in a contest held at the Research Centre for Conservation of Sahiwal Cattle, Toba Road, Jhang.

The cow named Zebi had earlier yielded 33.17litre milk in a contest held at the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, in 2012. It belongs to the Jahangirabad cattle farm in Khanewal, says a press release.

The Sahiwal Cattle Breeders Society, Punjab, has meanwhile urged the government to promote local breeds for livestock development.
