Musharraf not asked to apologise, says Saad Rafique

LAHORE: Federal Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique said on Friday that no one had demanded an apology from former military dictator General (r) Pervez Musharraf and neither did the government have the mandate to seek one, DawnNews reported.

The federal railways minister said that government would follow the decisions of courts regarding Pervez Musharraf case.

He said that rule of law would be ensured to protect the country from the onslaught of enemy forces.

Talking to a private news channel, he said it is mandatory on government to provide assistance to judiciary on legal issues and matters.

The Minister said now trends have changed in national politics, adding that all the institution are now participating to make the country developed and prosperous.

He said “independent judiciary, media and rule of law had been our dream.”

Replying to a question regarding Balochistan issue, Saad Rafiq said that 2014 is the year to change the destiny of the province, adding that government has many plans including political strategies and dialogue process to address the reservations of Baloch leaders.

The Government is fully committed to not only bringing peace in the province by ensuring law and order but also is determinant to address the issues to make it prosperous, he said.

Replying to another question, he said all the governmental institutions were following the Constitution and functioning accordingly.

He said that every one should obey the Constitution for making the society civilised.

Praying for the long life and speedy recovery of the ailing mother of former president Pervez Musharraf, he said the government is ready to provide all necessary treatment facilities to her.
