PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Under-17 Inter-district Hockey Championship will begin at the Lala Ayub Hockey Stadium here on April 8.

This was stated by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Hockey Association secretary general Syed Zahir Shah here on Friday.

He said all districts affiliated with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Hockey Association would be bound to take part in the championship.

Asserting that all arrangements to organise the event had been completed, Zahir said district associations had been directed to hold camps, trials before participating in the championship.

In this regard, he said, a selection committee headed by Hidayatullah Khan, Peshawar District Cricket Association president, along with members Yasir Islam and Ziaullah Binori would shortlist 33 players for the camp.

The camp is being set up for the forthcoming National Under-17 Championship to be staged under the aegis of the Pakistan Hockey Federation.
