Sri Lanka offers $1 mln bonus to win T20

COLOMBO: The Sri Lankan team will be handed a million dollar bonus if they can shake off their reputation as chokers in the final of the World Twenty20 this weekend, the country's cricket board announced Friday.
The day after the players won a rain-affected semi-final against the West Indies, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) said it would treble the money it had previously promised if they return home from Bangladesh with the trophy.
“The Executive Committee of SLC which met at an emergency meeting this morning decided to offer $ 1.5 million (including the original fee of $500,000) to the national team players in the event that they win the final,” the board said in a statement.
Sri Lanka -- who will meet in Sunday's final in Dhaka -- were the beaten finalists last time round when they lost to the West Indies even though they were the tournament hosts.
They have also been beaten in the final of the last two 50 over World Cups, meaning they have not won a major trophy since their victory in the 1996 World Cup under skipper Arjuna Ranatunga.

This is not good sign to offer money for the win. The nation `s pride cannot` be measured in term of financial gain. If this is the case then may be someone offer them more than 1 million dollars.

In order for SL to win following players will have to lift their game.
1- Ajantha Mendis will have to match the performance of Herath.
2- Kalusekara will have to match the performance of Malinga and Malinga will need to continue what he has been doing.
3- As this is going to be the last T20 for Sangakkara and Jayawardene, the old hands of these two and Dilshan will have to Deliver a combined Last hurrah
No matter what the outcome will be, I am glad that the two most deserving teams reached the finals.

Why Pakistan people hate India so much? Why will it hurt you if India win? Atleast India and Pakistan have same origin. In my opnion who ever is better team should win it. And not because I am an Indian fan, but if you look at whole tournament being nuetral, you will find the India is best team in the tournament and they deserve to win. Srilanka has not win their semi final convincingly. India atleast won all the matches convincingly.

India has lost to Srilanka in the warm-up match & srilanka has also won its all games including practice. From this point, Srilanka has the edge.

Although I think India played brilliantly throughout the tournament, I have a feeling that this WorldT20 is for Sri Lanka. They have missed out on this opportunity twice and I think they would give their everything to win this one.

These players should play for national interests.
It's not a good sign, they are already rich enough and elite class of the country and paying them more from thye funds of poor people is not justified, Money should be spent in public benefit rather than on a class of players or elite who are already rich enough to have luxuries of life.Wish SL my fav team all the best for final!

@ Indian Cricket: In my point of view, Sri Lanka has the edge as Srilanka is the only team beaten India in the process of the tournament while other didn't.
Secondly, Indian corrupt cricket BCCI take control of majority cricket matches through Cash rather than actual competition. BCCI Puts dust in eyes of others as BIG3 is the recent example of its corruption.

Indeed, they fully deserve it because they played like a real champion team of 11 players in which everybody played his due role unlike others who were like a crowd with many so-called world champions. In the end, the best team won while others followed.
