@Shah: Your comment is pretty ignorant to say the least. Unfortunately your comment seems to the result of our indoctrination from our school courses that tells us only one side of the story. Do you know that On the Indian side still hundreds of thousands of Punjabi Muslims live.? Also Do you know Sikhism is a very recent religion of the 15th century and many stories of Sikhsm-Islam conflict are made up by fake historians. Also Rule of Punjabi Sikhs was the best in Punjab when Ranjit Singh ordered to protect Every Sufi , Poet and Author not only in Punjab but in Kashmir upto Khyber pass regions. Moreover he protected all the Mosques and that is why from Badshahi mosques to every mosque in Punjab was protected until now and never demolished throughout the history.
Sikhs are Original Punjabis and their teaching teach them to tolerate everyone. The saga of 1947 is unfortunate and we should remember that Killings occur both ways and it is a sad reminder that what the religion can do to the ordinary people. No one community can be blamed for the 1947 events as Sikhs living in Punjabi Muslim regions were annihilated by Muslims as well.
Moreover We as Muslims should say Sorry to our Sikh brothers who were the son of the soil like us but Punjabi Muslims stay silent when Sikh Massacare known as Sikh Holocaust taken place during the Durrani Empire where even the Sikh women and children were slaughtered by Afghans forces and that led to the concept of Khalsa to protect Sikhs from invaders.

@Awan:
Very appropriate and historic response from a knowledgeable person like you to an ignorant person (Shah). Not only Pakistan but AJK was also ethnically cleansed of Sikhs. I was born in Mirpur (AJK) and was an eye witness to 1947 slaughter of Sikhs in notorious Alibeg Prison, Mirpur by Pathans. Alibeg Prison was actually a Sikh Gurudwara converted into a concentration camp for Hindus and Sikhs of Mirpur. I have documented some of the massacres of Sikhs in my book "Forgotten Atrocities :Memoirs of a Survivor of the 1947 Partition of India". Also see "Mirpur-Untold Story" by late Khalid Hassan.

@Awan:
The truth is Punjabi Muslims and Sikhs have always been one people. Many of us even have the same Gotras like Shergill, Pannu, Bhatt and Kapoor. I remember in the old villages the eldest son from every Punjabi family was always brought up as a Sikh as a respect to our Punjabi religion which preached Insaniyat for all humans.
