QUETTA: Two men belonging to the Hazara Shia community were shot dead here on Sariab Road on Saturday night.

The banned Jaish-ul-Islam claimed responsibility for the attack.

Police said the two were standing near a bus terminal when they were fired upon by assailants on a motorcycle. They died on the spot.

Bodies were taken to hospital for autopsy, where one victim was identified as Najibullah Hazara, a resident of Chaman.

Police have registered a case.

Calling from an unspecified place, Jaish-ul-Islam spokesman Aazam Tariq told reporters that his organisation was behind the attack.
