SHIKARPUR: A jirga was held under the supervision of former prime minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali at the Shaikh Farm on Monday to settle a dispute involving the murder of three women. Two of the women were pregnant when slain.

The jirga found Abdul Qader Jamali guilty of the murders committed in 2011. He was fined to pay Rs5.30 million to complainant Aurangzaib Pathan in compensation.

According to details, Rs1.20m would be paid for killing of each woman, Rs600,000 for each unborn and Rs500,000 for attacking Pathan’s house.

A rivalry was developed between the Pathan and Jamali communities after the murders in 2011.

Qader Jamali with his companions had barged into the house of Pathan and shot dead his wife Aamina, mother-in-law Naghma and wife of his brother-in-law Sadam Hussain Pathan. Qader Jamali paid Rs200,000 to the complainant at the jirga. The remaining amount will be paid in three instalments.
