KARACHI: A worker of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement and his friend were shot dead and their another friend was wounded in a targeted attack in Liaquatabad on Tuesday evening, police said.

The officials added that two motorcyclists opened indiscriminate fire on three men sitting at a shop in Liaquatabad No 6 and rode away.

The victims sustained bullet wounds and were rushed to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors pronounced two of them dead on arrival.

The deceased were identified as Shabbir Ahmed and Naseem.

Their friend, Arshad Naqvi, was admitted for treatment.

Liaquatabad SHO Shakeel Shervani told Dawn that Naseem and wounded Naqvi were activists of the MQM.

He said Naseem was a former member of the Nazimabad sector of the MQM’s organisational structure.
