LAHORE: Officials of the City District Government Lahore (CDGL) and Hair police raided a farmhouse near Bhatta Chowk late night Tuesday and took action against cricketer Umar Akmal and his family for violating the one-dish law and holding Rasm-i-Hina after 10pm.
Cantonment SP Sarfraz Ahmad Khan Virk said the Cantonment assistant commissioner, flanked by the Hair SHO, raided the farmhouse at around 11pm and noticed two violations at the Rasm-i-Hina ceremony of the cricketer.
He said the ceremony was going on after 10pm despite the government's ban and two dishes were being served to the guests at the time of raid.
The SP said police would register a case after the official complaint by the CDGL staff.

Absurd rules, absurd enforcement. Why not have a 1/2 dish rule, or a 1/3rd cup of tea rule?
How intrusive is the government when it has to prescribe what and how much people must eat on their own.
Seems very prehistoric. If one can afford to eat lavishly, one should be allowed. Next the government will prescribe how many times one can go to the bathroom.

Pakistan remains mired in silly raids when nothing comes out of it. More likely the CDGL and Police will harass and extort the poor employees, letting those whose party it is go.

I think they have gone too far this time. Event was taking place on a farmhouse, not a hall, nor a hotel. Then why such action against him.
Whats next, police barging in peoples houses and claiming that they should eat one dish only, and should go to sleep by 10PM Sharp, or else jail time.

I don't under their theory of limiting marriage ceremonies that comes once in a life time while allowing other parties as desired. All 5 star restaurants open until quite late to serve customers with multi cuisine. Parties thrown at PM house & President are never limited to one dish while those celebrating a once in a life event is charged with violation.

Come on now, how absurd can you get? Whats the rationale behind this law anyways? Wastage of food? Well, everyone attending would have had to eat anyway, if not at the wedding then at their homes. Poor man might feel hurt? Now thats absurd, you beat to death people eating in front of you when you are fasting, any woman having bad fortune to being seen by you is inviting you to rape, I mean seriously whats wrong with you? Aren't you humans? aren't you muslims? or are you like animals whose food has to be controlled by their owner so that they don't overeat and get themselves sick. and they have no self control at all?
And whats with the 10PM ban? Save electricity? Hell no.Prevent noise? Well then how about banning noise disturbance and take action accordingly rather than putting a ban on timing? Just like banning guns but not catching criminals, banning media rather than correcting yourselves.
They have time for all these stupid things but can't they take action against police officers on checkpoints not so far from bhatta chowk involved in extortion? Here we don't go out after 8pm not just because of criminals but more so because we know of criminal extortion police. Every day and night there is a lot of gun firing but they don't take against any of that. Any thing thats actually a criminal act rather than a civil dis-regulation, they don't take action against it.

Prime example of why the Country is going to the Dogs. Unnecessarily putting pressure on folks who have done something for the Country just for egos and reward the past & present crooks and leaders who have destroyed the Nation.
Not a single arrest or even an update on the guys who attacked Sri Lanka Team and repeatedly harassing Pakistan's Star Player.
Pakistan is not a communist country. If people can afford two dishes what is the damn problem with it. I am positive No PML-N leader would eat one dish in any meal when away from camera. What a great Hypocrisy. They want Sharia, but when its time for Nath Utharwai of young beautiful girls, I am told that the leader brothers are the highest bidders. May The Almighty protect what is left of Pakistan from these looters & destroyers of Pakistan. Shame on the Damn Public who get sold to the highest bidder all the time .

This law was put in place so people who cannot afford are not put under pressure to have lavish dinners. It was passed by Punjab legislature voted by people. If you don't like the law then vote and bring the party of your liking to change it.
If there is a law then one needs to follow it, dosen't matter if it is Umar Akmal, a common man, or Shahbaz Shareef. If Umar Akmal broke the law then he broke the law, he needs to punished.
