PESHAWAR: The election commissioner of the Peshawar High Court Bar Association (PHCBA) on Wednesday issued final list of the candidates for the annual elections of the association for which polling would be held on April 26.

The commissioner, Khwaja Mohammad Khan Gara, also announced that the last date for clearance of outstanding dues of the association would be April 18 (Friday).

According to the final list of candidates, two senior lawyers, Mohammad Isa Khan and Muzamil Khan are in the run for the coveted post of the president of the association, whereas for the post of vice president three candidates, Irshad Ahmad Durrani, Mohammad Jamal Afridi and Mohammad Sayar Khan are contesting.

Against the post of secretary general, three candidates are trying their luck, including Hazrat Said Khan, Mohammad Ayaz Khan and Qazi Babar Irshad. Similarly, one-on-one contest will be held for the post of joint secretary between Imad Anjum Durrani and Kashif Jan.

Two candidates, Aurangzeb Khan and Wajid Hussain, are contesting for the post of treasurer. Furthermore, three candidates, Furqan Ahmad, Gul Naz and Mujeebur Rehman are contesting against two posts of executive members, whereas Abidullah and Gulzar Ahmad are in the run for a single post of executive member from Nowshera.

As per the list, Zahid Raza has been elected unopposed as library secretary. Similarly, Saeedullah Khan, Jehanzeb Khan Toru, Mohammad Ashraf Turk, Anwar Mehmood Afandi and Hassan Mohammad have been elected unopposed as members of the executive council from Charsadda, Mardan, Swabi, Kohat and Hangu, respectively.
