KARACHI: Mohammad Majid Ali smashed a spectacular break of 140 on his way to registering a 4-1 victory against Baqar Kamani on the opening day of the 18th Karachi Club Open Snooker Challenge at KC’s Amir Bakhsh Billiards Hall here on Monday.
Majid recorded his career-best break in the third frame during his match against Baqar.
Majid’s only blemish was losing the second frame, otherwise he dominated the match with breaks of 33 in the first and fifth frame.
Asim Ghani extended Pakistan’s top cueist Abdul Sattar before going down fighting 3-4.
Asim was awarded the first frame after Sattar’s late arrival. He also won the second to make it 2-0. The match was locked 3-3 but experienced Sattar won the decider 70-17 to seize the match.
Meanwhile, former Asian number two Mohammad Sajjad, former Pakistan number one Khurram Agha and Imran Shehzad also won their matches with ease.
Khurram beat Asad Kamani 4-1 with a break of 58 in the first frame and seasoned international Imran Shahzad also lost a frame before out-potting Hussain Ferozpur 4-1.
In the day’s other matches, Sultan Mohammad beat Omer Salim, Sohail Shahzad beat Rizwan Jumbo, Zulfiqar Qadir overwhelmed Vishan Gir 4-1, Qasim Kamani downed Mohammad Ishtiq 4-1 and Sharjeel Mahmood overpowered Naveen Perwani 4-2.
