SUKKUR: July 7: Four Rangers personnel and eight dacoits were injured in an exchange of fire between them near RD-109 on the Sindh-Balochistan border on Monday. Rockets and other heavy weapons were used during the encounter.
At least 2,400 personnel of the Rangers and other para-military force were encamped on the border of Sindh and Balochistan in connection with the on-going operation against dacoits to clear the RD-109, which is the stronghold of dacoits.
Ali Bagh Chakrani Bugti, a most dreaded dacoit, who was encamped in the hilly area at RD-109, opened fire on the Rangers on Sunday morning and the gun battle continued for about two hours as a result of which eight outlaws and four Ranger personnel were injured.
The dacoits fled with their injured accomplices.Two sentenced: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC), Sukkur and Larkana, here on Saturday sentenced two men to rigorous imprisonment for seven years for snatching a motorcyle.
Muneer Marfani Chandio and Khuda Dino Sangasani Chandio were also fined Rs2000 each. In case of default, they will have to undergo rigorous imprisonment for one more month.
The accused had snatched a motorcycle (DU-6899) from Mohammad Murad near the Taj Mohammad Shah graveyard, Jakhar road, Warah, Larkana district.
Both the accused were arrested by the Wagan police on July 3, 2001 during a raid.
