Blast in Karachi's SITE area; three children killed

KARACHI: At least three children were reportedly killed and several others injured in an explosion that took place in Karachi's SITE area on Monday, DawnNews reported.
The explosion took place near a seminary situated inside the Jamia Masjid Tahiri mosque in SITE's Frontier Colony area, rescue sources said, adding that the victims included children from the madrassah.
Hospital sources said many of the victims brought in were children aged between 8-12 years.
Police said the bomb was not hurled from outside but it may be in someones possession inside the seminary.
Earlier reports had said that the blast was carried out using a hand grenade.
Attacks in the provincial capital city have escalated ever since the Taliban announced their decision to not extend the ceasefire.
Police officer Shafiq Tanoli and three others were killed in an explosion that took place near Karachi's old wholesale vegetable market on April 24 whereas another blast in the city's Delhi Colony the next day had killed five others.

Absolutely no point discussing with terrorist. If our govt cannot eliminate them head on than use guerrilla technique or some other way to eradicate them. The irony is that our country is run bunch of thugs who have no vision, all they care is to make maximum money in 5 years and flee.

Sad part about these bomb blasts and killings is that it is desensitizing people and the Government. Tragic news gets posted and then gets buried under another piece of even more tragic news. There is no public condemnation of these attacks by the Government or any opposition parties.
People's life and property may be collateral damage in this war of terrorism and sectarian violence. However, one must not forget the colossal loss and suffering of the family who have lost their loved ones.

No Comments from Government. It used to be that Government with condemn the attacks, issue a statement and promise for the full investigation and now no statement, no condemnation. Government itself itself is tired of making false statements and promises that they know no one cares.

@Mike So then, what we are saying is that there is total resignation and apathy from the Government side. If Government can't do anything, then who can? Is it time to come out on the streets and protest until each and every innocent life lost is accounted for.

It has recently be disclosed by investigating agencies that it was a hand grenade that a pupil in the seminary was tinkering with. It went off when it was mishandled by the young pupil. The important question arises here is how come such a minor pupil got hold of that hand grande?
This incident gives more credence to the perception that seminaries in Karachi have become arms and ammunition stores. If this news is true, then it's high time for our law-enforcement agencies to keep vigil on each and every seminary belong to a particular school of thought in this city. These seminaries have become launching pad of terror in this country.
