one thing I fail to understand.... why do we have to imitate Indians who themselves imitate America. having movie award k fine np ( apart from the fact tht its extreme waste of money atm) but why do we have to dress like them as well? they have tons of designs and dresses that reflect Pakistan. in fact we dress up reflecting our nationality it will send a positive message to the entire nation.

Whats wrong in, once in a while providing such entertainment and enjoyment , at least its not at the expense of public Exchequer.

Oh boy, looks like folks do not understand economics. 80 million rs spent could bring in 100 mil later.It is brand building and promoting. For IIFA awards, they bring in couple of hundred Indian actors to a foreign country, pay them flight fares, and hotel fees.

It is unfortunate that traditional burka reflecting islamic state is not worn by any. This would be a good if they show the islam dress instead of showing their backs.

PKR 80 m good example, we should have more programs like that. Good for Income Tax Department to estimate "real income" on private channel and then ensure full tax recovery. Do hope that responsible media would cooperate with tax authorities.

Good job! High time Pakistan went back to the way it was (Progressive). We need to move away from the dark age mentality. Same people criticizing will no doubt go and watch similar stuff in Indian movies and not stop taking bribes.

Pakistanis need to go out and enjoy life after all the negative turmoil swirling around the country. It's awesome our most talented artists get recognized for their hard work behind the camera as well as in front of the camera. There need to more such award events in every city in Pakistan. We need to keep celebrating with joy and in our hearts and a strong spirit of determination not to let the bad guys overtake our sense of freedom and zest to live. One interesting observation, a designer friend from Paris always admired the elegant modesty of Pakistani women and I personally wonder after having lived in the West - what Pakistani actresses are trying to prove by baring so much skin while this awards event in Pakistan? As a proud Pakistani female having lived on and off in Paris, Milan and in NYC, I never understood why ( as some comments state here ) our own most elegant and modest Pakistani designer's couture is so totally rejected by certain Pakistani actresses. Mahira Khan's outfit was chic and tasteful, yet some others not so : ( Seems like lately, it's a free for all when it comes to our actresses dressing as they please, devoid of any refined and decent taste. These "way out there" actresses by imitating the West are trying to prove what exactly? ... scantily and tacky vs decent and chic seems to be the "in thing" for some of our actresses. How sad yaar!

I wonder why people relate a complete different industry (fashion & art) to power sector. Both have their own place. Power shortage is not caused by fashion industry. One can't blame a progressing industry for the ill-doings of another; which is experiencing downfall due to its internal corruption and non-existence of a strong infrastructure. I would be happy if someone could share a video link of the awards. It would be a joy to watch these. These guys are trying to revive the film industry; encourage them instead of pulling their legs.
