MARDAN: Three persons were killed in separate incidents in different parts of Mardan district on Thursday.

In the first incident, Abdul Jabar allegedly shot dead his son Shoaib after exchanging hot words with him over a monetary dispute. The suspect managed to escape after the incident, police said.

The City police station lodged FIR on the complaint of Faisal, a brother of the deceased, against his father.

In the second incident, a passer-by was killed when two rival groups exchanged fire in Garyala area in the limits of Shahbaz Garhi police station.

Police said that the deceased was identified as Tanush. He was killed when the group of Zamarud and Maqsood exchanged fire with their rivals, led by Alam Sher.

The Shahbaz Garhi police registered a case on the complaint of Saleem, the son of Tanush, against both the groups.

In another incident, a 22-year-old student of a seminary drowned in a canal near the bypass road here on Thursday.

The residents of the area said that the student identified as Rizwanullah was taking dip in the canal when he drowned.

The workers of Rescue 1122 rushed to the spot and retrieved the body from the canal.
