LAHORE: Pakistan Police defeated Islamabad 135-122 in the final to win the general trophy in the third National Archery Championships at the Punjab Stadium here on Tuesday.

In the women’s contest, Punjab lifted the trophy, as they carved out a 114-83 win in the final against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

In the men’s final, Kashif Iftikhar, Shahzad Butt and Malik Safdar were the major contributors for Pakistan Police scoring 49, 47 and 39 points, respectively. Farman added 50 points, followed by Abdullah Farman (39) and Mohammad Naveed (33) for Islamabad.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa seized bronze medal with 82 points.

In the women’s decider, Punjab’s Najma registered 32 points, Rukhsana 46 while Sidra chipped in with 36.

For Khyber Pakhthunkhwa Sumera made 42 points, Abida 32 and Noreen nine. Pakistan Police with 31 points claimed third spot.

POA president retired Lt. Gen Syed Arif Hassan, who is also president of the Pakistan Archery Federation, handed the prizes among the participants.

Kashif Iftikhar of Pakistan Police was declared the best archer, both in the team and individual events.
