KARACHI: Several coaches of the Karakoram Express derailed in early hours of Wednesday killing three people and injuring 11 other people near Nawabshah’s Bandhi area, DawnNews reported.
The engine and several coaches jumped off the track as a result of the incident.
The incident led to closure of the track and suspension of the railway traffic.
The restoration of the railway track may take three to four hours, railway authorities claimed.
According to DCO railway Sukkur, the train was traveling from Lahore to Karachi and the situation is unclear as to what caused the incident.
Police personnel and rescue teams immediately reached the site of the incident. Rescue workers shifted the injured to People's Medical College Hospital (PMCH).

What about relief and rescue operations? Is a relief train carrying the necessary equipment sent to the accident site, and how the inured passengers are ferried to nearby hospitals?

If we take this matter in to probe probably the government is involved in this. These tracks are completely in obsolete conditions. No one is ready to revamp the problems, they put all to nature. Such inability in all spheres of government make situation worst and lay to colossal destructions. Only way to mitigate such problem here it requires to avoid corruption in all railway management and they should spend on railway tracks properly in order to prevent any untoward incident.

When will that incompetent Khawaja Rafique resign. In one year the railways has had so many accidents. Shameless people blame others and stay on to buy more rails to make money.

@Zak it is not Saad Rafique fault. this is the fault of many decades old decaying railway tracks. Railway needs Huge investment and priority from the government not only in train just but in engines, tracks, lines, signals, and better qualified drivers and workers in train stations to avoid such incidents. It cannot happen over night but the Railway minister is going on the right direction and should be given full five year time to see the result of his hard working in this poor decaying department
