MURREE: The Town Municipal Administration (TMA) has launched the much-needed operation against the encroachments on the Mall.
A number of illegal stalls have been removed. Stands, coffee machines and other encroachments would be removed during the operation.
Since many years, encroachments have sprouted illegally on The Mall, presenting not only an ugly look but also causing a hindrance to tourists walking there. This is especially seen during summer season when a large number of tourists visit Murree and stroll down the business district situated around this road.
Assistant Commissioner Murree Tahir Farooq said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, being a frequent visitor to the hill station, is taking keen interest in the affairs of Murree.
Under his instructions, the Punjab government has announced many projects for the development and beautification of Murree, including removal of encroachments, creation of parking areas, widening of roads and construction of new parks, he said.
Mr Farooq added that the operation against encroachments will be carried out judiciously without any discrimination and the TMA will try its best to restore the beauty of The Mall.—Correspondent
