LAKKI MARWAT: The Higher Education Commission will allocate funds in the next fiscal year for the establishment of a campus of the University of Science and Technology, Bannu, in Lakki Marwat district.

The assurance to this effect was given to the PTI MNA Colonel retired Ameerullah Khan Marwat by the HEC chairman Dr Mukhtar Ahmad during a meeting on Wednesday. Secretary standing committee for HEC Wilayat Khan Bittanni, director academics Dr Mansoor Kundi and other officials were also in attendance.

The PTI lawmaker discussed with the HEC authorities the matter of setting up a university in Lakki Marwat district and urged the latter to take it seriously.

He also told the officials that local youth were confronted with numerous problems to get higher and research based education.

MNA Ameerullah said that setting up of varsity campus would be the first step towards establishment of a full fledged university in the district.

“With the establishment of varsity campus the local youths will be rid of travelling to other cities for acquiring higher education,” he added.
