SUKKUR: A large number of people belonging to Bozdar community held a demonstration and a sit-in on Pir Bharee road near Khanpur Mahar town in Ghotki district on Sunday against Karachi police, accusing them of killing four of their community fellows in a ‘fake encounter’ four days ago.

Mehram Bozdar, Anwar Bozdar and Feroze Bozdar who led the protest told journalists that four youths namely Ghulam Hussain Bozdar, Kareem Bux Bozdar, Hazoor Bux alias Jaffar Bozdar and Shah Nawaz Bozdar who were residents of Pir Bharee had been living in Karachi for the past eight years, earning livelihood as labourers.

Karachi police in plainclothes arrested them a few days ago and later killed them in a fake encounter, they said, now police were not even handing over their bodies to relatives for burial. The four had left their village because of tribal clashes.

They said that they would move court against Karachi police for killing innocent people and said that no criminal case was registered against the victims at any police station in Ghotki district.

They said that no elected representative had visited the bereaved families to share their grief and demanded high police authorities should take notice of such incident in which police killed four innocent youths from whom no weapon was recovered by police.

They also demanded action against police officials responsible for the fake encounter after conduct of high level inquiry.
