The 48-year-old Bollywood star, popularly known as King Khan, has emerged as the second richest actor in the top 10 combined rich list of Bollywood and Hollywood stars, with an estimated fortune of $600 million, reported The Times of India.
Comedian Jerry Seinfeld topped the rich list with an estimated net worth of $820 million.
Khan, who was the only Indian actor in the list, was found to be richer than Hollywood giants like Tom Cruise and Johny Depp.
Tom Cruise came in third at $480 million followed by Johny Depp at $ 450 million.

Yes some of us who are always looking for negative things to say about India, don't see these things. What they can not also digest is the fact that being a Hindu majority country, until recently, Indian President was a Muslim, Prime Minister a Sikh and Defence minister a Christian. This is what I call a TRUE democracy. Well done India. You make all Asians proud. Let us not worry too much about my fellow countrymen (and some others) who can not see beyond their noses and suffer from inferiority complexes rather than learning from our neighbours.

If, indeed, the facts you have stated are true, I do apologize if I came across as someone who thinks SRK is all for himself. Having said that, for someone living in India, where there is a lot of poverty, it seems absurd that he will be worth $600 million. I find it equally sickening, that someone will actually build a house in India worth over a billion dollars. To me, a person can live quite comfortably for a lot less (particularly in India) and maybe, they should consider sharing their wealth, specially in a country where people are poor, not by choice but due to circumstances. You reach a point, where making or accumulating more wealth will not bring you more happiness - in fact, it might bring you more stress. That is when you should start giving it away and you will see the opposite will become true, where giving away your worldly possessions will in fact, bring you happiness! That is my view!

Having a token muslim in president position does define a society as fair and good. India also had a Defence Minister- jagjivan ram but his fellow untouchables still trated as animals. Such cosmetics can only impress a naive person who doe not look at e.g. a Chief Minister of Gujrat organizing the massacre of thousands of Muslims. Dear khalid- if India is so impressive for you, then go live a few days in Ahemedabad and you will learn the real India.

Azim Premji's father refused invitation from Jinnah to settle in Pakistan, Shahrukh's parents left Pakistan, do you think these would have become so big had they stayed back in Pakistan? Answer is NO! And why so much preoccupied with Ahmedabad, whats your take on Balochistan, Ahmediyya's, Shias let alone minorities in Pakistan.

As for going to India, I visit India more often than most people of Pakistan origin. We really have to open our eyes and learn from what India has been able to achieve. The person you call token Muslim was one of the most respected Presidents in Indian history and a very educated one being an aerospace engineer & scientist. You conveniently ignored my mentioning Manmohan Singh who has a Phd from Oxford. These people are not tokens. They are the best in their fields. Sadly we chose Prime MInister whose educational qualifications even are questionable. We need to get out of the well. I am sure most Indians would agree that Ahmedabad incident was a very sad one.

In todays world, your lack of knowledge about a neighbouring country is very sad indeed. Rather than sending one liners here, I would strongly recommend reading a few reports about India. It is all freely available on the Internet. I would also recommend visiting India. There is no place on earth where Pakistanis can feel more at home (without the safety fears). The warmth of people and their friendliness is second to none. I have always felt that. Try it. You might like it. Like every other country in the world, India has problems too but as people, we have so much in common that everything else fades into irrelevance. I love it.

Thanks for your comment. People who are emotional and do not look at facts can not have balanced opinions. I have always found Indians to be exactly opposite of what you have said. You look at websites and I visit India regularly. Everything I say is based on my personal experiences in India. Please don't have negative views about India based on assumptions. Trust me, it is the only country in the world where a Pakistani can feel at home and everybody I have met in my trips to India, I found them to be very pleasant, friendly, broad minded and willing to learn new things. I am particularly interested to see that young Indians really don't care about anything other than doing well in their education (IITs and IIMs in India are the best of the best) , doing well in their jobs (there is no fortune 500 company that doesn't have offices in India). We really need to get out of this isolation and luckily we don't have to go too far, India is right next door. Pakistan, as a nation can learn a lot from India and Indians. Just think about it. Whatever software you are using at the moment, chances are there are a few Indians behind that software.

I totally agree. Life is inded beautiful. What I am surprised about that we have only lived apart for 60 years and what has brought so many differences in this relatively short time in history of any country. India has progressed so much in the last 20-25 years that no one country is able to match that. The difference is really in the mindset. While India was electing its various governments, Pakistan was being ripped apart by the Mullahs and Illiterates. Another aspect which is not known to most people is the fact that we never teach our children to respect other religions. In India (and of course in Canada) it comes naturally because you have sizeable minorities. Lastly, as long as we continue to wear our religion on our sleeve, Pakistan will not make progress. I know that in Canada, they have places of worship, where people of any religion can go and pray if they want to. What a fantastic idea. By the way, I visit Toronto regularly and wonder why both India and Pakistan can not be like Canada. Anyway, enjoy living in Canada. I love it too (except for the cold!!) :)

It's a matter of a couple of years before his wealth hits a billion or more. By 2020 or most probably before that his team wil be worth at least $3b easy. Thats more than 10000 crores in Pakistani rupees. Anyways I am glad it is Mr.Khan and not some dynastic rich papa's boys or girls. That is why Mr.Khan is king of Mumbai and the Chaiwalla is king of Dilli. The new aspirational India loves and adores self made people who succeed based on their Hard work day in day out. I also hope Mr.Khan gives back to his Alma mater Jamia Millia Islamia university in Delhi and to Indian Muslim schoolgirls scholarships. Tieing up with Malala's fund would be a great idea. We love you king khan, you are a great role model to everyone who can make it on their own mettle instead of Daddy ki legacy.

@Adrian That's a sad comment. Please think about this....if everyone is selfish and miserly, wealth focused than nurses who care for Ill, some doctors and anymore selfless professions would disappear. Even some public service minded politicians would go away.

@independentthinker
Thanks for being empathic and human sir. Godspeed to kind folks like you, I wish more of the neo-rich in India. They need to thank India's masses for tolerating cronyism and unrestrained political influence peddling. i have the same views about wealth as you the more you give it away more happier you ate. It really matters because as everyone by now knows you can't really take any money with when you die. Hollywood and silicon valley are working on this problem but there is a long way to go before they can solve this problem. Plus most rich people's kids are super depressed because they are living of daddy money and lose self esteem fast. If this vast inequality continues, the Indian people will soon vote as their PM f the next politician who promises to take the money away from the rich people. There is already a movement happening in the USA. People are fed up with trickle down economics and rich getting richer and the income gap getting wider.

@ravi That is why people love him. He studied at Jamia Millia Islamia, grew up in a middle class neighborhood, we remember him as a talented young actor who started with a side role on the small screen when we had just one door darshan government run channel for all of India and he is respected for his hard work and almost workaholic nature. He constantly improves his weaknesses and is a complete entertainer.
He is also a rational patriot as against an emotional patriot, which some pakistanis and Indians seem to have found solace in. He stood up against the nonsensical pseudo superiority complex of Indians and said boldly that our culture is not the best in the world, when he portrayed the role of a volunteering nasa scientist. More importantly he has contributed more to the Indian Muslim community when he for the first time in the Indian film history pioneered a non-stereotypical Indian Muslim lead role of Kabir khan in chak de India and gave voice to millions of global Muslims against America's policies that generalize an entire religion as terrorists, through his lead role in my name is khan.
He is actually hated equally by the islamist Mullahs and the Hindutva RSS fanatics, because he represents a moderate and integrated society. He is our a role model, not just for Muslims but all Indians including Hindus, Sikhs and Christians across this vast nation. Including south India where they don't understand Hindi. He is the aka India thalaiva.

I very strongly agree with your comments/observations. India is most definitely on a very clear road to progress and prosperity and I only hope with her forward journey, she will take along more and more people who are far less fortunate, deprived and hurdled.
Best of luck to India and Indians and I hope it has some persuasive effect on Pakistani politicians.

http://data.worldbank.org/country/india. 21.9% poverty rate, literacy rate 74.04%,third largest economy in world surpassed japan last month.
http://data.worldbank.org/country/pakistan 22.3% poverty rate,literacy rate 57%, Pakistan gdp 26th in world ranking.
All the things we achieved in economy with with our own money being self reliant not financial aid.
Pakistan economy depends on aid from other country.
Had we had that privilege we would have grown faster never the less our statistics have improved from past 20 years it's only going to accelerate under his regime. The wheels in motion has been set ,can't turn it now.

@Rafi Ka Deewana, I absolutely agree with you. Indian muslims have been among the foremost craftsmen, and their contribution to the Indian culture is immeasurable, be it cinema, music, theater, sculpting, furniture, art, and even humor. By the way, we lost out on another Mohammad, Mohammad Iqbal, author of Taranah e Hind, or Saare jahan se acchha Hindustan hamara, to you guys!!! But then our common ancestry does allow us to call your artists as ours, and ours as yours!!

@Naren The fact that the Bahai temple is a tourist attraction in New Delhi is a symbol is India's tolerance.
Bahai faith talks about the unity of religions-while one may agree or disagree with what the faith offers-one cannot deny that the message behind it-UNITY- is something to be admired and accepted with enthusiasm.
Time for the world to get rid of these prejudices!

@'Indian'
I must say, as a former Indian citizen myself, I find your comment to be inappropriate and counterproductive. There is nothing good to be achieved by referring to our neighbor country (perhaps it is more accurate to call Pakistan our "sibling country") as "backward". Let us please refrain from any simplistic descriptions of our neighbor. Let us instead engage in a dialogue that will prove our decades-old international conflict to be outdated and irrelevant. Let us move towards mutual respect and a lasting peace. Let us pray for true democracy and human rights, in both India and Pakistan.
