MURREE: Plan to confer status of a district on Murree has seen opposition from citizens of nearby tehsils. However, there are many proposals under consideration and the best one will be implemented. This was stated by Labour Minister Raja Ashfaq while talking to journalists in Murree.

The minister said there was a possibility that Kotli Sattian and Murree would be part of the new district. Murree would be divided into two towns – Murree Rural and Murree Urban – and the decision would be finalised soon, he added.

It is worth mentioning here that the proposed ‘Kohsar’ district plan was opposed by Kahuta chapters of almost all political parties as they opposed the plan of including tehsil in the new proposed district.

It was therefore decided to exclude Kahuta and include Kotli Sattian along with Murree.

However, the locals believe that the population of both these areas would not be enough to constitute an entire district.
