Pakistani religious party Jamaatud Dawa, waves to his supporters celebrating the 16th anniversary of the nuclear test, in Islamabad. The day is celebrated as a national day in Pakistan on May 28 in commemoration of Chagai when Pakistan detonated six nuclear devices in response to India's five detonations of Pokhran-II in 1998, 17 days after the incident.

Totally unnecessary noise. All nuclear activity should have been kept secret.

how nice... proud to celebrate instruments of death and destruction :) ask these Maulanas and Kolanas is the length of their beards directly proportional to the "constructive" work they have done in their life or it has been just promoting intolerance, hate and using religion for their gain? sure celebrate this useless event has no meaning in humanity!!

The cost and maintenance of one atomic bomb is enough to keep 50% (that means the entire young generation under 16) of our nation illiterate for one year. AND . . . Pakistan, probably, has 200 atomic bombs at the moment. What are we actually proud of?

I thought Hafiz Saeed is a UN sanctioned terrorist (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hafiz_Muhammad_Saeed) ? Why don't Pakistani authorities capture him. Isn't Pakistan against terrorism ? or is he a friendly one?

And Hafiz Saeed somehow represents nukes in Pakistan, how?
I'll tell you how. He can send his people anywhere in India to kill people (for the crime of being Indian), and then sit and hide behind Pakistani nukes.
He knows that Indians are not stupid to start a nuclear war to go after him. He knows that Pakistan will protect him with it's nukes. He also knows that no court in Pakistan will convict him or pursue any "evidence" against him.
Proud day indeed!

Such a shame. We are the only country to celebrate nuclear bombs (and in this blatant way) and like the world to believe that we are a peace loving nation. Utter irony and confusion.

Let there be harmonious and brotherly relations between India and Pakistan such that people from both the sides can freely travel and let there be more trade and Cutural relations between the two Countries as was ORIGINALLY ENVISAGED BY QUAID-E-AZAM.If this happens as a sequel to the visit of Mian Nawaz Shariff Sahab to India, there will be huge prosperity on both sides of the Border. At some stage, even the Visa should also be superfluous between the two countries.

We now live in a country where owning a bomb is a reason for 'national pride', where killing women is 'honour killing' & killing defence less minority or health workers is considered 'love of religion'.
Our standards of manhood has come a long way in 3 decades of abusing our religion in politics .... Does any one know the way back to civility??

What do these mullahs have to do with nuclear weapons? Do they know what they are, and what kind of destruction they do?
As I see it, these mullahs are worse for Pakistan than WMD. Mullahs are a cancer for Pakistan, which is destroying it slowly. But the Pakistani public is also equally bad. It produces mullahs. Their population is growing like mushrooms.

How shameful to celebrate conception of a device so harmful for mankind. Maulana's should be confined to their masjids where they belong. They should not be allowed to meddle with state or politics. That is the biggest dilemma of Pakistan where religion and politics were inter mingled during Zia's regime and no politician since has the guts to send the Mulana's back to where they belong.

@ all critics of 28 may celebrations, we should be proud of our strength and everybody should celebrate this day. these assets have secured pakistan from indian agression otherwise india could have attacked our country. and pakistan was not first to test. it was india who did 1st. we just neutralized the situation.

Both countrymen are understood that there are more to do to fulfill basic needs of life, but these only 1 to 2 % people want that both countries issues must not solve otherwise their identity will be vanished. They say they are doing this for their own community and for motherland, than why not they spent provide education & medical treatment instead to celebre at this kind of day... after independence still people are lack of root needs, long long way to improvements rather than invoke Jihaad....
