TIMERGARA: A two-day exhibition on natural disaster management concluded at the main campus of the University of Malakand here on Friday.

The exhibition was jointly organised by the University of Malakand and an international donor, the Action for Hunger International, Pakistan, with the aim to raise awareness among people about natural disaster management.

Different governmental, nongovernmental organisations and educational institutions, including universities and schools, had set up their stalls at the exhibition demonstrating tools, measures and steps to protect human lives during natural disasters.

Ibrash Pasha of Khwendo Kor NGO received first prize for being the best stall holder, Aneesur Rahman of Aware Girls got second prize, Pir Bangash of Community Rise Programme got third while geology department of UoM received the fourth prize.

Speaking on the occasion, Professor Rehmat Ali, the university dean, said that the region had been confronting natural disasters and the damages caused by the calamities could be mitigated if people, especially youth, were trained in disaster management.

He appreciated the organisers for arranging useful activities for general public and asked students to raise awareness in public about disaster management.

ELDERS WARN OF PROTEST: The Adenzai elders on Friday warned to block the main Chakdara-Chitral road if the authorities concerned failed to recover a missing youth till June 5.

The warning was given during a meeting held at Gaddar Adenzai with JUI-F vice chief Maulana Gul Naseeb Khan in the chair.

The meeting expressed anger over police failure to trace Muzzamil, who had been missing for the last eight days.
