QUETTA: An activist of the outlawed Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) was killed and two others were injured during a strike in the city on Thursday.

The ASWJ had called the strike in protest against the government’s failure to arrest those involved in the killing of yet another ASWJ leader in Mach town a few days ago.

On Thursday, sources claimed, unidentified men opened fire at ASWJ activists at Manan Chowk in presence of security personnel. Khalil Ahmed was killed and Zahoor Ahmed and Shehzad were injured.

All markets and business centres were closed and traffic remained thin in response to the ASWJ’s appeal.
