PESHAWAR: A policeman was killed on Friday when unidentified militants attacked a police checkpost near Chakdara area of Lower Dir district.

In a separate incident, at least two FC men were injured when an explosion occurred in Salarzai area of Bajaur tribal region.

The Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was planted along a roadside which blew up resulting in casualties.

Police personnel and rescue teams immediately reached the site of the incident and shifted the injured to a nearby hospital.

The security personnel took control of the area and launched a search operation after the incident occurred.

Bajaur agency sits directly across Afghanistan’s Kunar province where a large number of suspected militants who had fled operations in Swat and Bajaur have been living for the last few years.
