LARKANA: Larkana police on Monday sealed 13 arms shops in the city on a tip-off about sale of illegal arms and ammunition,

City ASP Mr Tauqeer told Dawn that raids were carried out on 13 shops on a lead given by Naveed Khoso, who was nabbed on Sunday while carrying a pistol with tampered number.

During an interrogation, Khoso named the person and his shop who sold him the illegal weapon, the police officer said.

The Saleem Nawaz Shaikh Arms Shop was raided and sealed but its owner, Bilawal Shaikh, managed to escape, he added. It transpired that the shop were being run without the mandatory licence.

Twelve more shops in the city were raided and sealed along with their stocks and records.

AN FIR against Naveed Khoso was registered at the Market police station.

Meanwhile, a team headed by Inspector Abdul Qadir Samijo was constituted to investigate the issue of illegal arms sale.
