KOHAT: The security forces have seized a huge quantity of arms and ammunition and arrested two suspected militants during a targeted operation in Hangu district.

Operation in-charge Lt-Col Afrasiyab and Frontier Corps public relations officer Major Waheed told media persons here on Saturday that following a tip-off the security forces launched the action in different parts of Hangu and seized arms and ammunition.

They said that the seizure included missiles, machine guns, hand grenades, rocket launchers, etc. Two suspected militants arrested during the operation have been shifted to unknown place for interrogation.

The officials said that nobody would be allowed to disturb peace in the region. They said that restoration of peace and safety of people was the main goal of security forces.

TRADER KILLED: A trader was killed by extortionists in Sheri Mela area of Junglekhel here on Saturday.

Habibullah told police that his son Amir Badshah was sitting in his shop in Sheri Mela when Imran, Asmatullah and Gul Mohammad reached there and demanded payment of monthly. He said that on refusal by his son the alleged extortionists opened fire on him. As a result, Mr Badshah died on the spot. The Junglekhel police registered the case against the three alleged attackers and have arrested Gul Mohammad. The other two persons nominated in the FIR were still at large.

COMSATS CAMPUS: The campus of Comsats Institute of Information and Technology was inaugurated in the building of Virtual University here on Saturday.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony held at Kohat Press Club, assistant commissioner Farrukh Atique said that it was the second such facility in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The function was attended by former MNA Khursheed Begum, Saeed Shah advocate, educationists, lawyers and officials besides a large number of youngsters.

The institute would provide computer education to people online by experts on the pattern of Allama Iqbal Open University.

All the material from prospectus to admission forms would be provided online to the aspiring candidates, Mr Atique said.
