KOHAT: Commissioner Kohat division Jamaluddin Shah has appointed focal persons in Kohat, Karak and Hangu districts to check and control prices of edibles during Ramazan.

Chairing a meeting of price review committee in his office here on Tuesday, he asked the deputy commissioners, labour officers and chief municipal officers to pay regular visits to the slaughterhouses, poultry farms and hotels for ensuring cleanliness and sale of commodities on rates fixed by the administration.

Mr Shah asked the chief municipal officers of the three districts to start double shifts for keeping bazaars clean by ensuring timely removal of garbage. He also asked the medical teams to vaccinate the IDP families from North Waziristan Agency.

He said that the provincial government was starting online system to keep check on prices and cleanliness throughout the province and the officers concerned should remain vigilant.

Meanwhile, Kohat Chamber of Commerce and Industry vice-president Hafiz Rasheed Paracha has requested the business community to lower the profit margin on food items so that people who could not afford fruit, sugar etc could easily buy them during Ramazan.

THREE KILLED: Three persons were killed in as many incidents in Kohat city on Tuesday. The cantonment police said that Naveed Zafar was allegedly killed by his brother Asghar Khan over a domestic dispute and fled.

In Junglekhel, Janas Mir, Sher Mohammad, Ayub and others allegedly killed young Tariq in Chakar Mela area. The police arrested one of the accused, Janas Khan, and launched investigations.

Meanwhile, one Shadat Hussain allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself in Railway Colony in the jurisdiction of cantonment police. Police have launched investigations into these cases.
