MULTAN: Newly-appointed Multan Electric Power Company (Mepco) Chief Executive Officer Engineer Muzaffar Abbasi suspended on Wednesday three officials for their alleged negligence and incompetence.

The suspended officials include Liaquatpur Division Executive Engineer Khurshid Ahmad, Khanbela Sub-Division Officer Sajid Salahuddin and Line Superintendent of Khan Bela II Sub Division Syed Kausar Abbas.

Mr Abbasi who assumed office on Wednesday was earlier working as Pakistan Electric Power Company’s general manger.

He expressed his displeasure over the performance of executive engineers and directed them to fix feeders in their areas as early as possible.

He also directed them to monitor forced loadshedding or breakdown of power supplies of over two hours in urban areas and over three hours in rural areas.

The deputy manager of power control centre should be contacted and informed about the situation, he asked his subordinates.

He said executive engineers concerned would be responsible for technical faults or breakdown in their area.

He directed the staff to follow the loadshedding schedule issued by the power control centre.
