FAISALABAD: Faisalabad Waste Management Company will start mechanical washing of different roads shortly as it has purchased three road-washer vehicles at a cost of Rs15 million.
The company organised a demonstration on Kotwali Road on Wednesday which was observed by DCO Noorul Amin Mengal, FWMC Managing Director Amjad Ali and others.
Briefing the officials, FWMC Manager Transport Zafar Dogar said initially the vehicles would wash main squares and areas of the city, including eight bazaars.
The DCO said modern equipment could play a vital role in cleanliness of the city.
The FWMC MD said Faisalabad would be the second city in Punjab after Lahore where roads would be washed through mechanical pattern.
He said the next target of FWMC was to equip operational system with mini dumpers and installation of trackers in all the vehicles ensuring efficiency and transparency in operations.
electrocuted: Two teenagers were electrocuted and a ten-year-old boy sustained injuries when a high voltage wire fell on them near Samana Bridge on Sargodha Road on Wednesday.
People said the 11-KVA wire fell on about a dozen shops and shopkeepers rushed out in a panic. They said Adnan (15) and Kashif (17) received a severe shock and died instantly while Naeem (10) sustained injuries. The Rescue 1122 personnel shifted him to Allied Hospital where his condition was said to be stable.
