According to sources, the government is considering the move to help the civil administration deal with law and order situation and combat terrorism.
Feedback from the law and interior ministries as well as the attorney general has been sought in this regard.
The sources said the army will be called in the next few days by the civil administration.

Whenever some serious work is required, Army is called in. The politicians and police are here only for lining their pockets with looted money.

What could you expect from an Incompetent Govt. this move is more towards curtailing pressure from opposition then actually providing security to poor people.

Do invoking Article 245 it will favour the revolutionists. Once the army is at the vantage points, the money launderers will not be able to escape out of the country in case of the revolution gain foothold in Pakistan.

@Qamar Your argument is wrong. Army should be called in whenever there is high security threat. Dealing with such issues is job of the army. Unfortunately we have many incompetant politicians. But the job of politicians is manage the country's political institutions. This is how a balance is achieved in a normal functioning society.

Goverment is on collision course, instead of dealing with political issues politically they want to fortify behind army. The possible March by PTI after Ramzan can be averted by talking to them and taking physical steps to make election commission an independent institution on which we all can be proud of. Putting army between you and public will never end well for the government. Unfortunately, majority of PMLN leadership consists of businessmen and using force is there strategy of risk mitigation. They are right when they say, PMLN is its own worst enemy.

This simply means that the Police/Politicians have failed and are feeling vulnerable to the Terror/Kidnappings/executions. This is a Joke. They must just RESIGN and handover this country to the Army. This all talking about Democracy is being proved as a FAILURE. Army is the only organized administration in this country the rest are just a bunch of Selfish opportunists. Sad.

A bad decision. Martin van Creveld had prophetically written in 91: "... the need to combat low-intensity conflict will cause regular forces to degenerate into police forces or, in case the struggle lasts for very long, mere armed gangs." Instead of deploying Army on police role, we seriously need to depoliticize and enhance the capacity of police.

Army is not trained to deal with urban law and order situation. Rangers are already deployed in Karachi for the last 25 years without any improvement. Instead police should be depoliticized and investment made for their training and equipment. Police should be under city government as in other mega cities of the world.

This is nothing but civil war that's going on in Pakistan.
25 year old policy of strategic depth is the cause of this misery. The same is still being pursued. Radicalization of people in madrassa, protection of some militant groups, radicalization of educational material in schools, distribution of arms to militants, state sponsored arms training, glorifying jehadists, policy adapted of death by thousand cuts; all these in fact resulted in more deaths in Pakistan.
Recent Pew poll suggests only 8% people support TTP. But what about people in support of other militant groups like SSP, JUD, JeM, LeJ, AuI..etc..
It's so obvious that major sections of society support extremism in one form or the other which is why no political party comes out against the various laws like blasphemy, hudood laws.
In fact, PTI endorses militancy.. Until Pakistan takes up education of masses on very high priority & dismantle the policy of strategic depth, there's no hope. No country in the west is even Willing to issue visa easily. Srilanka changed its visa policy..

Army should do the job it is supposed to do , monitor and ensure our borders are safe and total halt to illegal migration, if army is busy ensuring peace inside pakistan our enemies on both sides will have a field day and put tremendous pressure on pakistan.
Home Land security should be independent of army and should be strenghtened and well equipped to deal with internal security.
Regular know-how exchange with China and training can help .
