ISLAMABAD: The Kashmir Highway expansion project is in its final stages as the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has opened the major portion of the highway for traffic.

Five lanes on both sides from Golra Mor to Peshawar Mor has been completed.

An official of the CDA said lights on the highway had been made functional and now marking was being carried out.

He said the authority had been directed to plant saplings along the roadside after the 24 feet wide strip is cleaned.

He said at present the construction work on a bridge was underway and would be completed as soon as possible.

The project had remained stalled for many years, he added.

He said that the authority had ensured maximum development work on the project in six months as compared to the progress made in last three years.
