LAHORE: Veteran journalist and editor-in-chief of the Nawai Waqt Group Majid Nizami was said to be in a critical condition in a local private hospital on Thursday, with the family sources saying that he was slowly getting better.

Mr Nizami, who is suffering from a heart ailment, was admitted to the hospital three weeks ago.

According to the hospital sources, the veteran journalist has been put on ventilator under the care of senior doctors.

Nawai Waqt Managing Editor Rameeza Nizami told Dawn through a text message that Mr Nizami has been in hospital for three weeks, being treated for serious chest infection. He is stable and slowly improving. “Doctors and nurses here are helping me take excellent care of him,” she said.
