BANNU: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Monday rejected reports of any possible deal with the government over his party's call for a million man march to the capital on August 14.
In response to a question asked by a DawnNews correspondent in Bannu, Imran said there would be no agreement between his party and the government for the Independence Day march.
"The time for talking is over. We have waited 14 months and have exhausted all rules within the law," he said." We raised the issue in Parliament as well, while the Election Commission of Pakistan gave us no relief. We requested for a judicial commission to be formed but that demand was also not met. Now the decision will be taken on August 14."
With reference to the government's move to invoke Article 245 in Islamabad, Imran said, "They should not hide behind the army as it is Pakistan's army and not serving them alone."
In a press conference on Sunday, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar had hinted that the government might try to pacify Imran Khan and Pakistan Awami Tehreek chief Tahirul Qadri after Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s return to the country, saying that there is no harm in contacting them and discussing their demands.
Similarly, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Pervez Rashid told reporters on Monday that the government is "seriously contemplating" the demands put forth by the PTI chief.
"We want to settle matters with him harmoniously," Pervaiz Rashid added.
Eid with IDPs
The PTI chief visited the Bannu camps for displaced persons from North Waziristan and celebrated the festival of Eid with them.
Imran Khan was welcomed by the tribal Jirga into a sports complex,where he apologised for not being able to pray along with the IDPs.
On the occasion, the PTI chief said that the federal government had abandoned its duty of facilitating the IDPs.

Both PMLN and PPP always looking to deals and making agreements. Why cant they just be honest and probe the for constituencies that have been asked for and let the matter rest. Asking for a probe or recount is not a crime, it is a simple and uncomplicated request unless of course you have something to hide?

We are waiting Khan Sahib. It is a good thing you have a palace in Islamabad to rest after the long March. Maybe you want to open the door for your followers so that they do not have to spend the night on the road with no sanitation facilities in Islamabad. Elahi's have a villa there too. I am sure you could find a way to help us all out.

For the sake of futre elections being clean everyone should support PTI.
This is not about PTI but getting justice which the tribunals have denied to a party for whom millions voted.
Nawaz Sharif doesnt seem to care about Pak army being at war with terrorists and has gone with 80 crates of mangoes for the royal family that are supporting rebels in Syria.

@Hasnain Haque Let me try. The government has pretty much no objections. The cases are in the tribunals independently controlled by the Election Commission which takes its own time to decide. The problem is that nobody can trust Imran Khan or PTI that they will stop at their four constituencies, their aim is to dislodge this government by any means and get a mid-term election because Imran Khan is under a lot of pressure from the hawks that surround him. They can't sit and wait it out for another four years anymore.
Imran Khan blames the judiciary and election commission for the alleged 'rigging', but goes after the government. His beef is with the election commission, so may be he should direct his protests there, instead of destabilising a government that came through an election hailed as a largely fair election by UNDP, EU Commission and FAFEN. If you look at the cases in the tribunal, out of the 400 or so cases in the tribunals, more than half have been decided upon. PTI has 40-odd cases there, out of which half are also decided with PTI winning a single objection. Overall, 3 to 5 cases have been accepted as real, all the rest have been thrown out. PPP has more cases in the tribunals than PTI.

Drama of long march will fail. Imran khan does not have the momentum to topple a government. He should focus on electoral reforms in the Parliament. Else, he should form a grand opposition alliance and hold protests for poor performance of the government and demand mid term polls. What he is doing now will change nothing but only create bad impression of Pakistan overseas and will hurt GDP growth. He also needs to own IDPs.

PTI opposers have no answer to your question. They are in a classic denial mode.
Fact is, that a government which came to power via rigged elections is illegitimate. And hoping that these illegitimatly propped governments will take the country to a better direction is DENIAL.
PTI demands are fair, and people should show some spine and stand up to protect their mandate from thugs and theives.

Determination, brevity, honesty and simple straightforwardness symbolize this man (IK). It may just provide the current youth and coming generations a role model that in recent times pakistan has not witnessed. We should be morally courageuos to acknowledge this even if our sympathies are with other political or religious parties because at the end of the day its our country Pakistan that we ought to be loyal to. Political parties come second.

Some one has to stand up to a system that intentionally or otherwise fails to uphold law. Pakistanis already know that the system does not abide by the law it makes. Justice is only a dream we are talking of lesser things here. Where might is right, you have to become mightier. IK should walk in and just take over with people's power. Kick the government by force, army should protect the boarders. The end will justify the means in this case.

Stop predicting the past, Imran Khan has said from the very beginning that these four constituencies are a sample for the rest. Ibrar-ul-Haq also called them a litmus test.

I compare Imran Khan with Al gore.
Both lost the elections. In al Gore's case he lost under some very strange circumstance.
Again in his case, after appealing to the court and loosing his case , he stood up dignified, and stated that he would not take it further because it would detrimental to the nation.
In Imran Khan's case , this man is bent on destabilizing the fragile democracy that you have.
On his character - is this the man who wanted to negotiate with the Taliban?

@Bharat Any chance you mind your own business. There is no analogy between American and Pakistani elections. Al Gore lost election on a technicality - the Republican leaning courts decided in Bush's favor - there was no controversy about vote rigging, stuffing ballots, lack of thumb verification. If Pakistan elections were held through an electronic mechanism, NS would either be sitting in Jeddah or London on a permanent basis.

I admit I have no idea about Imran Khan's political positions or whether he is good leader or a great leader. I am tired of his demand for dialogue with "Taliban". Why he wishes to have a dialogue with folks who do not accept the constitution, who continue to kill indiscriminately, are not prepared to treat women and children much better than farm animals, want to impose their version of Islam on everyone, who may also wish to govern the country under a caliphate as opposed to democratic rule. We have nothing in common.

@hasnain Haque In plain words, Sir, Once an election has been held, results have been declared legally, parliament has been convened, members have taken a legal oath, then you cannot ask anyone to entertain the idea of recounting FOR WHATEVER REASON. In plain english you will be creating a precedent for anyone in future to demand a recount whenever they like during the term of a parliament.

@zafar I never said that pmln or PPP are a success, they are all failures, but IK is worst. His support and tilt towards the extremists, failure to hold lb elections in kp, failure to contain terrorism & so on have shown his real face to the world.
What Pakistan needs is a secular set up coupled with a dynamic leaders like Pervez Musharraf, only with this recipe democracy will thrive here.

why in the world people don't realize that if the present assembly is dissolved there will be no electoral reforms. only and only the elected parliament with two third voting can make changes in the electoral process. of course PTI knows this but they don't want people to know this.
