ISLAMABAD: Expressing grief over the drowning of people in the sea during Eid holidays in Karachi, PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari has directed his party-led Sindh government to take steps for preventing such incidents.

The directives were issued by Mr Zardari from London, according to his spokesperson Senator Farhatullah Babar.

Mr Babar said the former president had asked the provincial government to investigate the incident and take measures for the safety of people on beaches.

Describing it as a “national tragedy”, Mr Zardari offered condolences to the bereaved families.

“My heart goes out to the families who lost their near and dear ones when everyone was celebrating Eid,” Mr Zardari said in his message. He prayed for those who lost their lives in the incident.
