ISLAMABAD: Seeded players advanced into the second round of the men’s singles Warid National Ranking Tennis Championships at the Senator Dilawar Abbas PTF Tennis Complex here on Sunday.

While, most of them registered easy victories, sixth seed Sanaullah and the eighth-seeded Mohammad Mudassar had to struggle hard before emerging winners in three sets.

In the boys’ under-18 category, Nofil Kaleem, Aman Atiq, Mohammad Muzammil, Hamza Abjad, Arham Atiq, Talha Zubair, Talha bin Asif and Mohammad Mudassar made it to the last-eight stage of the competition.

But unseeded Talha Zubair of Karachi caused a big upset by when he eliminated fourth seed Hasnain Manzoor of Lahore 6-2, 6-3.

In the boys’ under-14 event, Ahmed Ihtesham, Noman Aftab and Musa Chaudhry progressed to the quarter-finals without playing after receiving walkover from their opponents.
