ISLAMABAD: As the sixth witness testified against retired General Pervez Musharraf in the high treason case, the prosecution informed the court that it would be producing two more witnesses; FIA Additional Director General Mohammad Khalid Qureshi and Director Maqsoodul Hassan.

It, however, excluded the third member of the joint investigation team (JIT), FIA Director Hussain Asghar. The JIT consisted of Qureshi, Hassan, Asghar and FIA Director Legal Mohammad Azam. Azam reached the age of superannuation and retired before the finalisation of the team’s report.

Being a member of the JIT, Asghar reportedly opposed singling out General Musharraf and wanted to implicate the those who helped impose the emergency on November 3, 2007.

The special court will record the statement of FIA Director Maqsoodul Hassan on Wednesday.
