Bieber Facetimes Malala, expresses desire to meet activist

In a rather unexpected move, pop icon Justin Bieber took some time out from breaking the law and getting into altercations with Orlando Bloom to Facetime with youth activist Malala Yousufzai, who survived an assassination attempt by the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in 2012.
Yousafzai was just 15 when she was shot in the head while returning from school in Mingora, Pakistan, in October 2012. She had angered the fundamentalist group by writing about life under the Taliban for the BBC, and arguing that girls should be allowed to pursue an education.
Bieber expressed a desire to help Malala's cause and meet the young activist in person.
On Facebook, he shared a badly cropped photo of the chat, and wrote:

The selection of the photo and their orientation is suggestive, and hence unfair.
Especially to the little girl, she already has many enemies across our society, this will not help her.

@'ladies and gentlemen'. Thats right you did not get the point. These are two separate pictures joined side by side, where the guy is apparently looking her way with exclamation, and the girl seems to be smiling back.
This kind of newsmaking is not correct and unfair to Malala. Hope you get it now

this is how our capitalist world operates... first create role models for the masses....make them big... and then sell products and values through them... bieber and malala represent the same model.
her handlers teach her what is appropriate and inappropriate behaviour...
the peace activist could not condemn the Israeli apartheid state...becoz if she does so she would be taken off by the news agencies

@Sam Watkins - Criticism is very healthy and a part of our everyday society here in the US and in Pakistan. It represents freedom of speech, a different perspective and cultivates checks and balances. So let people express and counter with a more logical argument.

Why is it that every time someone in Pakistan tries to do good, he or she is brought down by fellow Pakistanis? Malala is a great girl who had the courage to stand for her convictions & take bullets but most of the Pakistanis seem to be critical of her due to her fame in the west. Dear Pakistanis, don't forget that at a time when the world views you as a terror exporting country, she is one of your very few bright spots so don't bring her down. Also don't forget that she's just a kid!!

It's a shameful thing to falsely accuse Malala because she is the only person in Pakistan who is glorifying the name of her counrty...."Malala From Pakistan." Is there any change in her dress and looks? Did you ever saw her without dupatta or dupatta hangind on her shoulder? Did you saw her in tight jeans or see through dress? @dr.Sehar Khan ... I have nothing against Malala. I don't think positively of her nor do I think negatively. I am totally and utterly indifferent about this girl. What happened to her was horrible, beyond horrible. But tell me, how many little girls die of the drone attacks? how many families have been destroyed from the hands of the US army and Taliban? Now tell me how many of these children dreamt of studying, going to school, leading normal happy lives?! ALL OF THEM!!!
What exactly has Malala done to be 'the pride of Pakistan'?! She got targeted by the extremists like thousands others do. Why don't we talk about them ever. Where are the other two girls who got shot that day?? Are they not as important?
What happened to this girl was horrific, but there are thousands of kids going through the same thing. Why is she sooooo special?
Why is she 'Pride of Pakistan' and why should she get the Noble Peace Prize? What has she done to spread peace?!! Talks? Meeting Obama? Tour of the world? What has she DONE for peace?!
God bless her but she needs to stop now.

She has more power than the prime minister of Pakistan? she can call any world leader and any time?.. Yet she said but two words for the children of Gaza!
That's not her fault though, she knows if she says something other then the agenda that she's handed, she'll be sent back and forgotten!
It's a shame. This poor girl needs to go back to her home and continue the path she was on..fight for the cause she was shot for in the first place. Maybe then I'll be singing her praises too. But right now, she is nothing but a girl paraded around the world as a puppet.

@dr.Sehar Khan If you think Malala is the only good thing that came out of Pakistan then you are ignorant to a whole another level. Malala 'glorifying' the education issue on a international platform isn't helping Pakistanis at all.. It's only getting her a lot of applause from the west-whose admiration of her is highly hypocritical because it overlooks the plight of other innocent victims, like the casualties of US drone strikes.

@Sufiyan ... Jealousy is simply and clearly the fear that you do not have value. Jealousy scans for evidence to prove the point - that others will be preferred and rewarded more than you. There is only one alternative - self-value. If you cannot love yourself, you will not believe that you are loved. You will always think it's a mistake or luck. Take your eyes off others and turn the scanner within. Find the seeds of your jealousy, clear the old voices and experiences. Put all the energy into building your personal and emotional security. Then you will be the one others envy, and you can remember the pain and reach out to them.
