Even as Humaima Malick makes cross-border waves, Pakistani actor Sanam Saeed has expressed an interest in crossing over to B-town.
“Honestly a role is a role – whichever industry it is in – TV, stage or films,” the actor told Dawn.com in an email interview.
“If it [the role] appeals to me I’ll do it.”
Sanam also shares hopes of working on "meaningful" roles in the future.
“I prefer social dramas. I love to watch all [drama, comedy, romance, satire] genres, [but] as yet, I don’t know which one I’d fit in best or do justice to,” she said.
The actor wished Pakistani actors working in Bollywood, "the best of luck", but added that, "I’d like to see us Pakistani actors do more work that reflects our culture, morals and values. We should bring something new to the table. And I think it’s important to remain loyal to your home country, from where you started.”
The 29-year-old Zindagi Gulzari Hai star lauded her co-star, Fawad Khan’s success in Bollywood.
“I think he’s one lucky guy. He has the Midas touch. I wish him well and hope he continues to make his country proud. I’m sure many people would still like to see him be a part of our drama serials once in a blue moon too.”

Hope Bollywood producers reading this. While Bollywood produces masala movies, it also producesmany serious movies with quality, Sanam would be definitely great fit there. Her action in ZGH was amazing.

The likes of Ali Zafar and Humaima Malik are bringing nothing special to bollywood. They went away and just did the same old masala stuff bollywood does. Sanam Saeed has a special factor about her and I think she's far more genuine. I would put Fawad Khan in the same category with Sanam Saeed although I'm not sure what to make of Khoobsoorat as I still have not watched it.

I don't think Bollywood differentiates on basis of nationality or sect.
It is purely a commercial industry, whoever sells is successful... . There are over 100 new entrants every year but only a handful make it. So please be careful in making accusations on bias.

We are inundated with unemployed pakistani actors/actresses who would normally enjoy India bashing but the chance of earning big money has dimmed their pastime for the time being. I, for one, has no problem with Pakistani artists seeking opportunities in India, it can only enrich our industry, who knows it may lead to better relations with our enemy country. And furthermore it may lessen our politicians work to bring our two countries together.

I think Pakistani writers, actors and directors have shown their worth especially Fawad Khan who has become a heart throb amongst Pakistanis, Indians and even Arabs. Would be great if Indian producers can put some money and have Pakistani directors and actors make a movie for both countries.

Sanam, you have an amazing talent. I saw in Zindagi Gulzar Hai... and you were superb. Bollywood has no actress, not even close to the talent you have and I would pray God to help you in getting opportunity in Bollywood. You will rock Bollywood. @An Indian I entirely agree with you. She is an extremely talented person and deserves big screen opportunities and challenges, Even though Mr Fawad Khan has probably cornered greater name and fame, but most of us found her highly convincing depiction of Kashaf as the heart of Zindagi Gulzaar Hai.

I am not sure whether this artist Sanam Saeed will succeed in the main role of heroine in any Indian film. Though she was superb in Zindgi Gulzar Hai, but that was only one dimensional role. She may have much more talents to be a complete actress in the main role, but till now no body has any idea. May I say very politely that acting in serial dramas are one thing which has no relevance with the main role of leading lady in a movie which demand more than what she dished out in the serial drama. Any how, let her explore her chances in Bollywood and I will be very happy if she can click in the main role.

For artistes from Pakistan, Bollywood represents a large market, with the ability to monetize possibly every type of craft, most notably actors and singers. Bollywood is purely commercial and very syncretic - it welcomes novelty, be it from any part of the world. If the talent on display is genuine and there is a solid value proposition, I see no reason why Pakistani artistes won't be successful in India. The public will be ready to welcome quality content and talent (e.g., Shafqat Amanat Ali) and equally merciless in rejecting those without anything substantive to offer (e.g., Ali Haider). So, best wishes to Fawad as he makes his debut. He would do well to keep a firm head on his shoulders.

Most hate India and Indians but at the same time cricketers want to play IPL league matches , singers want to do playback and actors want to act in Bollywood. I remember cricketers and PCB criticizing BCCI for not including their players at IPL league auctions. It seems that when money is involved, all notions of patriotism vanish.

Big difference between bollywood and pak tele-plays. The nature of the beast is completely different in bollywood.
Pak tele-plays thrive on a captivating story, closer to life and a focus on acting real. Big screen in bollywood has different demands with noise, song and dance. I can't imagine Sanam Saeed doing a Veena Malik or Humaima Malik.
