With the Independence Day just a day away, we can see zeal and zest increasing in people.
The patriotic citizens are showcasing their love for the country through buying flags, buntings, or by painting their faces green and white.
Efforts are also done to decorate the monuments across the country.

I was in the first train which left India to head for Karachi, the jewel of the British Empire just a day ago. I was with my elder brother & my parents. That was the only train where all the passengers reached Karachi safely. Mohammed Ali Jinnah welcomed the arriving Pakistanis at the train station. And then a train came. Jinnah waited & waited but nobody came out except the driver. Jinnah went inside & watched the horror. There were dead bodies every where. We made enormous sacrifices to have our own country. Some times its bad & some times its good. Just like our cricket team. Some times it brings us pride & some times humiliation. But we love our cricket team. We love Shahid Afridi, Imran Khan, Majid khan, Fazal Mahmood & our little Master Hanif Mohammed. And we all love Pakistan.
Pakistan Zindabad.

What does our religion say about this "Pakistan Zindabad".
The Holy Prophet (SAWW) said, "Watan ki mohabbat, deen ki mohabbat ka hissa hae" (The love for your country is part of your love for your religion).
Pakistan! we love you. And miss you a lot, a lot.
An expat.

@Dr. Farhat H. Siddiqi "That was the only train where all the passengers reached Karachi safely."
Oh yes, hindus were completely unharmed and 100% of the passengers in trains going to India reached safe and sound. A country was carved out of hatred and insecurity and hacked out from the whole body arousing base passions all around, and you use the blood of innocents to justify a monumental mistake? It is good that the results of this historical wrong is hitting again and again, till your ilk learn from the mistakes of their ancestors.

@Ganga Din From Dignity to slavery on 14th Aug. under the banner of co called Pakistan. A deal which was struck in world war II by British to USA, giving all these areas to be under the influence of USA, in a return to get a help from USA. That's why even these areas ruled by British but today you will see that English are not having much influence in these areas but USA.......

@Dr. Farhat H. Siddiqi: How come there are not many like you who rue the disastrous effects of partition on the other side, in Bangladesh and Indian Bengal ? Even though
I was born in the late 50s, in Calcutta, I have heard of the horrors of what happened in Bengal from my Mother, about lorry-loads of dead human bodies, taken like sand or cement bags, for disposal, following Direct Action Day as mentioned by others who wrote here. When you mention about Jinnah's horror as he watched the second train that rumbled into Karachi, perhaps you should recall too, that Gandhi was at pre-partition time in Noakhali and surroundings in Bangladesh, and even Lord Mountbatten came on record that " In the Punjab we have 55000 soldiers and large scale rioting on our hands, in Bengal our forces consist of one man, and there is no rioting "
Maybe, Doctor Saab, our people and our countries in the sub-continent are far from perfect, but we could still take some lessons from a more fledgling country in our midst like Bangladesh, and try and look to the future positively with all the handicaps that we have ?

Poverty & hopelessness creates uncontrollable anger which leads to killing our own brothers. Eventually, our economy will grow & we will be prosperous again. May be poor now but we still have the culture of family values & love for each other which the rest of the world envy. When I lived in Pakistan my family was too poor to send me to the Pakistani controlled Kashmir but I finally had the opportunity to travel to the northern areas of Pakistan in 1986. Believe me there is no match to the beauty of Pakistan. The northern areas of Pakistan are just a poor California & there is no shame in being poor. I was born in Nanital ( U.P.), India. It's a gorgeous hilly town with a beautiful lake. Our cricket players practice in the streets but still produce the cricket legends like Imran Khan. Hanif Mohammed , Javaid Miandad & Shahid Afridai. So yes we are poor but Allah has blessed us with the natural beauty. Our handsome actors & beautiful actresses work in Bollywood , our singers sing the hits of Indian movies. So my Pakistani brothers in Pakistan, this Pakistani American in California says that I am proud to be a Pakistani. I am way far away from Pakistan but Pakistan is always close to my heart. Pakistan Zindabad.

Long live "meri sohni dahrti".Allah blessed us with such a wonderful piece of land, and People with such a varied and vibrant culture. But due to lack of good leadership we have been able to make a big mess of Our beloved homeland. Now we are more of a Punjabi, sindhi, balochi and pathan than pakistani and mercilessly slaughtering each other on sectarian lines.May allah help us and give us patience to og through these hardships and make a true tolerant islamic social welfare state.Salutes to People like Dr Farhat Siddique, who sacrified everything for the love of yhis country

Ganga din-Jinnah did his best to make it possible for both hindus and muslims to live together in the same land but due to haughy behavuor of pandit Nehru, his struggle did not materialize and the later events led to one of the biggest migration and atrocities which sowed the seeds of mutual hate which we see now and unfortunately Our leaders did nothing to lessen this,on the contrary they fueled it to further their agendas

It is good that we celebrate the independence just like other nations, but me we are gradually losing our values, culture and dignity. This is really alarming.
I would like to further extend what Fazal sb has pointed above. It is really sad to see that printer are introducing new versions of flag every year. We need to realize that flag is an identity of a nation, and we are spoiling it. You will find flags with incorrect proportions and design. We will see our flag with missiles, flowers and yes even mickey mouse on the it. Even if you will look at the pictures above, you will find different versions. Picture # 1, 2, 3 having wrong flags. Check the ones around Liaqat Ali Khan's neck.
I was at the big pharmacy other day and found a wrong flag hanging at the front. When I pointed it out at the reception, it took him few seconds to realize what is wrong with the flag. This will give you an idea how poor we are in recognizing out Flag. Shame on us!
Long live Pakistan. May Allah protect it from all evils (Ameen)
