SAHIWAL: A large number of people have been watching kabaddi matches for the last 10 days in village 88/6-R.

Rana Shafiq, the sprit behind the Kabaddi tournament, said the third festival was being arranged with the help of mutual funds generated by the local people.

He said the winning team would get Rs50,000 cash prize along with the trophy.

About two dozen teams from four surrounding districts of Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Vehari and Khanewal are participating in the Kabaddi tournament. The final will be played on Aug 16.

I-DAY: Around 2,000 inmates took part in competitions of dance, music and dohara in connection with Independence Day celebrations in the Central Jail.

The festivities were arranged by Superintendent Jail Gulzar Butt with the assistance of the district administration. Provincial Minister for Zakat and Ushr Malik Nadeem Kamran was the chief guest.

Prizes were distributed among winner inmates of the jail.
