LAHORE: An election tribunal on Monday ordered the examination of an additional 117 bags of polled votes in Lahore's PP-147 constituency, DawnNews reported.

Earlier, polling bags were examined in PP-147 on the election tribunal’s directive where it was revealed that there had been a massive difference of 1,000 votes.

MPA Mian Mohsin Latif, a close companion of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, had emerged victorious in the said constituency.

The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) had alleged that rigging had taken place in PP-147.

Earlier on August 7, an election tribunal in Karachi had also declared null and void the election of a PTI Sindh Assembly lawmaker who returned victorious in the 2013 general elections.

The runner-up candidate had alleged that PTI member Syed Hafeezuddin had rigged the election.

Declaring Hafeezuddin's victory null and void, election tribunal judge Justice (retd) Zafar Ahmed Sherwani had announced that the seat would instead go to the closest contender Abdul Razzaque of the Jamaat-i-Islami, who had challenged Hafeezuddin's victory in last year's polls.
