LAHORE: Sports Board Punjab’s Lahore Lions kabaddi team begins the second leg matches of World Kabaddi League in India from Saturday.

The team departs for India via the Wagah Border on Friday.

Lahore Lions media manager Abdur Rauf Roofi told the media that Punjab Thunder will be the first opponents of Lahore Lions at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, New Delhi on Friday.

Then the Lahore boys will lock horns with Indian film star Akshay Kumar’s Khalsa Warriors at the same venue on Aug 30.

“So far Lahore Lions had won both the matches it played in London this month and topped the points table along with Khalsa Warriors with four points each,” he said.

Royal Kings USA, Punjab Thunder, United Singhs and Yo Yo Tigers have grabbed two points each while California Eagles and Vancouver Lions have yet to open their account on the points table.

In the first match in London, Lahore Lions thrashed Canada’s Vancouver Lions 74-61 on Aug 10.

Then on Aug 16, they outplayed Royal Kings USA 62-50 convincingly at LG Arena Birmingham.

Lahore Lions team: Babar Waseem Gujjar (captain), Lala Ubaidullah, Shafiq Chishti, Shahzad Dogar, Rana Naeem, Khalid Mehar, Shabbir Butt, Rehman Ishtiaq alias Heera Butt, Saifullah, M. Ramzan, Ali Lambi Pindiya, Matloob Ali, Mohsin Wahla, Arshad Mehmood, Waqas Raheem, Naeem Tahir Sindhu and Aslam Dogar.
