SAHIWAL: The Divisional Development Working Party has approved 17 development schemes worth Rs 706.2 million for Sahiwal division. The schemes will be completed during the current financial Year, it learnt.
A sum of Rs 83.5 million has been allocated for the up-gradation of two colleges in Arifwala and Pakpattan.
Director Development Habib Jillanai told Dawn a 30-room hostel, 10 new classrooms and boundary wall would be constructed at the Government Girls College while three new computer labs would be established at the Government Post-Graduate College, Arifwala.
He said Rs 18.2 million would be spent on the development of two roads in Okara district – from Okara Cantt to Malgadah Chowk and Ram Pul to Diya Ram, Depalpur.
Rest of the amount will be spent in 10 villages for the provision sewerage lines and water supply schemes.
According to commissioner Shaikh Musammad Sadeeq, filtration plants will be established in villages where water supply schemes are being developed. He said the Punjab Government had releases funds for the schemes.
