LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Wednesday upheld an objection of the registrar's office and refused to hear a petition that sought a restraining order against "Azadi March" of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI).
A citizen Ajmal filed the petition and contended that the march and dharna (sit-in) being held by the PTI was an international conspiracy to create anarchy in Pakistan. He said a judicial commission should be constituted to reveal the "hidden purposes" of the PTI protest.
The office had objected to the maintainability of the petition and fixed it before the court as an "objection case".
Justice Shahid Bilal Hasan took up the petition and observed that nobody could be stopped from holding peaceful protest or sit-in.
The judge sustained the objection and dismissed the petition.
