ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) has decided to make arrangements to deal with any emergency situation in the city.
Vice Chancellor of Pims Dr Javed Akram on Thursday instructed the blood bank of the hospital to ensure the availability of at least 100 bags of blood of each group.
Earlier the bank stored about 50 bags of each blood group.
The Pims emergency department has been directed to ensure the availability of medicines for 2,500 patients.
Pims spokesman Dr Waseem Khawaja told Dawn that the hospital was on a high alert and vacations of all the staff had been cancelled.
Minister of State for Capital Administration and Development Division Barrister Usman Ibrahim has already directed the officials of Pims, the National Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine and the Polyclinic to make special arrangements to meet any emergency situation in the capital.
