ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) would show some flexibility in its demands during the negotiations with the government committee, a member of PTI core committee told Dawn on Friday.
A senior PTI politician, who is also member of its core committee, on the condition of anonymity, said that during Friday’s meeting of the core committee it had been decided that the party would show some flexibility on some of its demands during the negotiations with the government committee. He, however, did not disclose which demands the party may compromise on.
PTI chief Imran Khan during the ongoing ‘sit-in’ has demanded among other things the resignation of the prime minister and fresh elections.
The PTI leader said that Leader of Opposition Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah on Thursday had suggested some options for the settlement of the current standoff which were also discussed by the core committee on Friday.
Shah has suggested that the resignation of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif can be considered if it is first proven that the 2013 elections were rigged.
When asked how long the ‘sit-in’ would continue, the politician said that the PTI leadership was also facing problems because of the ongoing protest. He, however, expressed the hope that by Sunday the negotiations would bear fruit.

Shah's suggestion is reasonable. Prove if the elections were rigged, then demand resignation of PM. If I were PM , and if it is proven that PTI has rigged the elections, I will submit my resignation.

Flexibility means drop in popularity. People are actually really very sick and tired of current problems specially Inflation, Load shedding and Law & Order. what about people's demand? People need Cheap Food, Affordable housing and Security, which neither Nawaz and provide nor Imran Khan.

The whole idea is that while NS is PM , how can investigation be fair. How can he investigate himself ?
There is severe lack of trust. As long as he remains PM the question will always be raised.
But while PPP supporting him, he is not going anywhere. Why would he resign?
Seems like in the name of democracy Zardari and NS are watching each other's back. As of now NS will have to give Zardari what he want ( they are meeting today)
Tricky situation for IK. In the end he probably would have to give in on his demand#1 but if he at least is able to form a path for electoral reforms, history will remember him and this march.

Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader Imran Khan one think must keep in mind , people of Pakistan is not your slave because your most heinous behavior that you demonstrated in Islamabad this is not a leadership but not more than a street Joker, further more to say keep in mind you are not in capacity to be a Prime minister of Pakistan but dreaming, and door closed for you to be a prime minister forever . IK, we all support you but one suggestion here....Please be a lil flexible and withdraw you demand for NS resignation (at the moment) on one point. A free, fair, trustworthy commission should be formed in consultation with neutral negotiators and the task should be to investigate rigging in elections. This should be time bound (like 3 months) and any kind of irregularity proved in 2013 elections (be it the ink, be it non-verifiable votes or incorrect counting) should be subject to re-elections. NS will have no legal or moral ground to remain in govt, a neutral caretaker govt should then be formed and after election reforms, people should vote again.

This election was the first one I had some hope and after looking at the street power and the crowds IK attracted in the rallies it was evident he will win majority. But when I saw the results I couldn't digest what come out. IK's demands are genuine, how can a person who has nothing to stand on win an overwhelming majority. The ruling party should accept the demand of a time bound independent inquiry with the assurance that if proved the assembly would be dissolved and re-elections ordered under a new election commission.

@Pasha Please pay your taxes and electric bills, everything will be ok, otherwise no politician could bring change in Pakistan.At present only one percent of population pay taxes and lots of people tap electricity.

It is extremely unfortunate that IK has been used by the Troika (Shaikh Rashid, Chadhry's and Qadri) who have personal grudges against the PM. Furthermore these three have not electoral standing and can only come to power in non-elected setups. IK has lost the mandate of the people. He has also destroyed PTI's chances as well. I along with many friends and family that I have talked to have decided not to support him. As an analyst said the other day the elections will never give IK a victory

@Jawad that should be the first and foremost demand to do effort so nation will not face such sit it's and stand offs after future election. Pti needs to show flexibility in the greater and long time interest of Pakistan and I'd like to suggestion to Ik and take the resignations back and be a strong and constructive opposition role for the check of the government efforts in future.They can do it much better and constructive as being part of the assembly members then outsides on TV talk shows or on streets.

@Nirvana they have.won actually after raising the alarm bells in power corridors now N's probably will attend more assembly sessions then resting in jeddah or raising palace or just busy doing sight seeing in foreign trips. And even exposed to the level that even party workers cannot defend their such actions in which blatantly rigged election thinking.they will never opposition or held accountable for their actions.

Flexibility is good leadership which is the basis of any negotiations. In politics flexibility plays important role. Making black and white demands lead to futile negotiations and confrontation which is not in the interest of the country.

IK is an honest man of principles, not like other hypocrites. I wonder what kind of proofs of rigging required more, the videos are spread over on youtube, the statement of Ch. Nisar in parliament of accepting rigging plus 50 to 60 thousands unverified votes are declared in recounting of 14 constituencies recently. I can understand it is very hard to come out of the prevailing corrupt social set up because we have been used to, and it is very naive for us to follow an honest man.but once we break up this slavery we have a lot of talent, even you (my reader) have enough potential to prove yourself as a proactive person of the society, then why we follow a family(ies) who have dispersed interests and who been proven as not sincere to solve our country' problems.

So you do remember Asghar Khan. ( thanks for proving my point). Even tho he never won.but he is remembered because he tried. Not only you but everybody still remembers him. Compared to him IK has achieved much more. He has been able to wake up at least some. Who are tired of being used and abused " IN the name of DEMOCRACY"
As of now IK is in the driving seat. He will be remembered but next few days will decide how he wants to be remembered.
Let the history be the judge of that.
