BAHAWALPUR: A large number of people thronged the local railway station to watch the Azadi Train which had a stopover here on Sunday.

Earlier on arrival, the train was given a rousing reception by the railway staff, a good number of traders, journalists and political figures. The train comprised two engines and eight colourful coaches.

The coaches were decorated with big pictures of the founder of Pakistan Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and other leaders of the Pakistan Movement.

The last four coaches depicted the cultural heritage of all four provinces and symbolized the integration of Pakistan.

The train later left for Dera Nawab Sahib railway station where a number of citizens had reportedly appreciated the efforts of railway organizers.

After a brief halt at Dera Nawab Sahib, the Azadi Train reached Khanpur railway station for an overnight stoppage.

WRITTEN TEST: As many as 2,300 candidates appeared in a written test for admission to the College of Engineering and Technology of Islamia University Bahawalpur (IUB).

The test was conducted under the auspices of the UET, Lahore, and the IUB made adequate arrangements for it.
